Chincoteague Island in Winter


As summer leaves so do the bright colors and beach crowds.

The sky takes on an autumn gray and the beach grasses become dry and brown.

As fall turns into winter, the heavy gray of storm clouds becomes more familiar.

Morning fogs remain long into the day.

The beach in winter is every bit as beautiful as it is in summer.

And the only ones you share it with are the animals who live there.

But hardy beach lovers will not be daunted by cold weather or snow.

Some come out to enjoy nature even on the holidays.

Island residents burrow into their warm homes or travel south for the winter.

But the beach remains desolate and bueatiful.
