Hawaii January 1999


This trip was over the 1999 New Year on a mission for the National Archives. I was to pick up the Hawaiian 1998 Anti-Annexation petition from the Bentley Museum and hand-deliver it to the National Archives.

We stayed on the main island of Oahu at this hotel on Waikiki Beach

Looking up Waikiki Beach, past the hotels, toward the peak of Diamondhead.

On New Years Eve at 12:00 midnight we sat on the beach and watched fireworks out over the Pacific Ocean.

This is an arial view of Diamondhead, a very old, filled-in volcano crater.

We rented a car and drove around the perimeter of the island. There were tremendous waves coming in on the north shore.
